Benefits of orthotic insoles

Incorporated in 1997, TLM Foot-Knee-Back-Arm Orthotics Center specialises in the prescription, manufacture and management of orthoses. They are the first orthotics center in Singapore to use an insole concept to cure foot, knee, and back pain that arises from musculoskeletal system conditions.

The centre is founded by Ms Li Ming, whose passion for helping people led her to explore the therapeutic possibilities of braces. She has treated more than 20,000 patients from two to 85 years old in the past 18 years.

Here are three things you need to know about TLM orthotic insoles.

1. Foot pain is not only caused by flat feet

Foot pain is usually not caused by an isolated problem like flat feet, as ninety per cent of the center’s patients do not have flat feet. Other ailments such as gout, ankylosing spondylitis, diabetes and chronic sports injuries can cause foot pain.

2. One’s foot takes time to adapt to the insole.

“During the first 10 minutes of wearing a new pair of TLM orthotic insoles, one's foot will adapt to the insole and gradually the patient will feel more comfortable as he or she walks.” Said Ms Li.

During the first two weeks some patients will experience muscle aches, and soreness in the legs, hips and back. This is caused by muscle fatigue when the body readjusts its biomechanical alignment with the help of orthotic insoles.

The centre’s orthotic insoles are comfortable and suitable for everyday use.

3. Children can wear TLM orthotic insoles as well.

TLM orthotic insoles are able to correct musculoskeletal conditions discovered in children, such as kyphotic spine, knee hyperextension, knee pronation, etc. Correcting musculoskeletal conditions at a young age allows children to grow up healthily and prevent them from developing other musculoskeletal conditions such as scoliosis.
